Welcome to The Insurance Beast
Why we built a free Canadian insurance site that never sells you a policy — and what it can do for you.
A few principles we won't bend on
- Education, not advice. Recommending specific products requires a provincial licence, and we stop cleanly at that line — we explain how coverage and the math work so you can decide.
- Every figure is sourced and dated. Government amounts live in a versioned file with a source link and a "Verified" date; nothing is hard-coded into a page. See the methodology.
- Your data never leaves your device. The calculators and your Policy Beast binder use your browser's local storage only.
What to do first
Most people learn the most from the Disability Gap calculator — it shows how thin your real safety net is, month by month. From there, the insurance stack explains what you already have, and the guides go deep on each coverage type. When you're ready, build your binder so everything lives in one place.
We're part of the Beast family, alongside The Mortgage Beast and The Retirement Beast — same DNA, same no-nonsense, no-ads approach. Robert will be with you the whole way, reading the fine print so you don't have to.
Frequently asked questions
- Is The Insurance Beast really free?
Yes. There's no paywall, no ads, and nothing for sale. We take no commissions and generate no sales leads, which is what lets us give you the honest answer — including "you don't need this."
- Do you sell insurance or share my information?
No. We don't sell policies, don't generate quotes, and your calculator inputs and Policy Beast binder stay in your browser's local storage — they never leave your device.
- Can you tell me which policy to buy?
No — recommending specific products requires a provincial licence, and we stop at that line. We explain how each coverage and its math work so you can make your own informed decision.
- Where should I start?
The Disability Gap calculator is where most people learn the most. Then read the insurance stack to see what you already have, and build your binder.
Educational only — not insurance advice, and no products are sold here. Government figures verified July 2026 against their cited sources. Robert is a mascot, not a licensed advisor. See our disclaimer.
